Jaguar XK120 (670009): A Masterful Engine Overhaul
Following its sale at Retromobile, this Jaguar’s journey in Belgium began with a partial restoration. However, the project encountered a critical problem: a broken connecting rod had completely pierced the engine block. Once in our workshop in the Netherlands, we restored this historically significant C2331 engine block to its former glory.
The block was professionally welded, pressure-tested and re-bored. To provide absolute assurance against future failure, the cast iron was fully X-rayed. Thanks to this meticulous approach, the original engine has been given a new lease of life.
Preserving authenticity was central to this ‘matching numbers’ restoration. We have restored as many original parts and the authentic bodywork as possible, thereby preserving the car’s soul. Parts have only been replaced where necessary; for instance, the ash wood frame was in such poor condition that a complete, handcrafted replacement was the only correct way to guarantee structural integrity.
